ASK.COM会成为下一个YAHOO或者GOOGLE吗

A: Eyeing the huge success of market leader Google, several companies have been trying to tempt the public to try a different Internet search engine.

Ask.com is one of those contenders. By offering some innovative features on its search engine, such as letting you view small versions of Web pages without actually visiting them, Ask.com is trying to build a better mousetrap. So far, though, Ask.com hasn't been all that successful in making a dent in Google's business. In fact, Ask.com is a partner with Google and allows Google to place ads on its website for a fee.

You can't invest directly in Ask.com, but you can invest in its parent company, IAC/Interactive (IACI). Soon it will be easier to invst in IAC/Interactive's Internet properties. The Internet conglomerate recently announced plans to restructure by breaking into five publicly traded companies.

This transaction may be good news for you. Before, when you bought IAC/Interactive, you got a slice of Ticketmaster, HSN and other units in addition to the Internet unit that owns Ask.com. After the split, the surviving IAC unit will be more clearly focused on Internet and Ask.com will be a more significant portion.
